Healthcare: Hens

• Mites — these can be found in the coop, nesting boxes or on the chickens.
  • Clean out the coop thoroughly and dust everything with diatomaceous earth — including the chickens
• Worms — roundworms can get into the chicken's digestive tract
  • Can be avoided for the most part by keeping the coop area clean and dry
  • May be prevented by adding a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to each gallon of water
  • Can treat for worms 1-2 times a year with one or a combination of two worming medicines. Eggs have to be thrown out for two weeks after treatment. (I have not needed to do this yet)
